Carriacou, a small Caribbean island that along with the islands of Grenada and Petite Martinique make up the nation of Grenada, is so far off the beaten track that when I visited shortly after 9-11 and during the scare we were having in the U.S. about bio-terrorism, a former New Yorker who lived there said to me, “What’s this Amtrak disease we’ve been hearing about?”
